WASHINGTON -- In what the government describes as a bizarre coincidence, one U.S. intelligence agency was planning an exercise last Sept. 11 in which an errant aircraft crashed into one of its buildings. But the cause wasn't terrorism -- it was to be a simulated accident.

On September 11, 2001, the Air Force was in its second day of annual wargame drills, titled VIGILANT GUARDIAN, designed to test national air response systems, which incidentally involved hijacking scenarios. In addition the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) which is staffed by military and CIA personnel, and is in charge of most American spy satellites, was running a drill for the scenario of an errant aircraft crashing into its headquarters. NRO headquarters also happens to be located just four miles from Washington?s Dulles airport ? where Flight 77 (the flight said to have hit the Pentagon) originated...

London Bombings

On July 7 BBC Radio five interviewed Peter Power, managing director of Visor Consultants, a "crisis management" consultant. At half past nine this morning we were actually running an exercise for a company of over a thousand people in London based on simultaneous bombs going off precisely at the railway stations where it happened this morning, so I still have the hairs on the back of my neck standing up right now.?

Strange Coincidence #2 In both the case of 9/11, and the London bombings, ongoing investigations and prosecution of apparent members of Al Qaeda were actively blocked by the FBI and Department of Justice:

An entire book can be written outlining the documented cases of obstruction of justice, and the active thwarting of investigations into the 9/11 hijackers in America. The examples are too numerous to include here. But, perhaps the most egregious example could be:

An FBI whistle-blower contends that the bureau's headquarters removed important information from a search warrant application whose rejection kept the government from learning more about terrorism suspect Zacarias Moussaoui before Sept. 11.

(FBI Agent) Coleen Rowley wrote in a memo earlier this week that agents in Minneapolis became so frustrated by roadblocks erected by supervisors in Washington they began to joke that FBI headquarters was becoming an "unwitting accomplice" to Osama bin Laden's efforts to attack the United States, said government officials who have seen the memo.?

London Bombings

One of the accused organizers of the London bombings, Haroon Aswat, lived in the United States and was accused of attempting to set up terrorist training camps in Bly, Oregon. And now we find these details emerging:

The Justice Department blocked efforts by its prosecutors in Seattle in 2002 to bring criminal charges against Haroon Aswat, according to federal law-enforcement officials who were involved in the case.?

Aswat was a highly public aide to Abu Hamza al Masri, the militant cleric whose North London mosque was a hotbed of radical Islamist preaching. In 1999, Aswat came to the attention of the FBI and federal prosecutors here as part of the investigation into the Bly camp and its founder, former Seattle entrepreneur James Ujaama.?

Strange Coincidence #3 Apparent Israeli foreknowledge of both attacks.

Officials at (Israeli) instant-messaging firm Odigo confirmed today that two

employees received text messages warning of an attack on the World Trade Center two hours before terrorists crashed planes into the New York landmarks. Alex Diamandis, vice president of sales and marketing, confirmed that workers in Odigo's research and development and international sales office in Israel received a warning from another Odigo user approximately two hours prior to the first attack.

The issue of Israeli foreknowledge of 9/11 is highly controversial. The story is too complicated to go into detail here, but a number of respected publications (for instance, Fox News, 12/12/01, Forward, 3/15/02, ABC News, 6/21/02, Salon, 5/7/02, Ha'aretz, 5/14/02, Le Monde, 3/5/02, Reuters, 3/5/02, AP, 3/5/02, AP, 3/9/02, Cox News, 3/5/02, Guardian, 3/6/02, Independent, 3/6/02, New York Post, 3/6/02, Jane's Intelligence Digest, 3/15/02) have written about an Israeli "art student" spy ring operating in the US for several years before 9/11. The name "art student" is used because most of these scores of spies were posing as college art students. Israeli spies appear to have been close to at least ten of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers.

Israel Insider cites Israeli Mossad Chief Meir Dagan in an interview with the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag:

The Mossad office in London received advance notice about the attacks, but only six minutes before the first blast, the paper reports, confirming an earlier AP report. As a result, it was impossible to take any action to prevent the blasts.

JERUSALEM - British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said. Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had planned to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred, and the warning prompted him to stay in his hotel room instead, government officials said.
