- CAFTA, the proposed trade agreement with Central America and the Dominican Republic, would double U.S. agricultural exports to the region. That has Central American farmers worried. CAFTA would flood Central America's markets with products of U.S. agribusiness, much of which is still heavily subsidized.
- Never before in history has a special interest group, the pharmaceutical industry, so shamelessly tried to compromise the health of billions of people for no other reason than its desire to maintain multi-billion dollar markets for prescription drugs. - Humans have the capacity to create and to destroy. It seems to me that if we do not rein in our destructive capacity, bugs will one day inherit an otherwise empty and barren planet.
- America has a multi-billion pornographic moviemaking industry. It turns out on an average around 4,000 films every year, which yield revenue of $13 billion. Thousands of people are engaged in it from its production to distribution. To get over health problems and to reduce costs, there is a serious thinking on the part of the industry to outsource it. Already a number of Hollywood producers are making their non-porn films outside America.
- Our standard of living now depends on cheap foreign slave labour.
- Among the Members are representatives from Big Banks and Investment Firms, Big Media, and Large Corporations. Madeleine K. Albright, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Henry A. Kissinger, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz and Richard Perle are also members.
- Consultants are creaming off a staggering $20 billion from hard-won global aid budgets. The $20bn total is 40 per cent of the international communities' overseas development pot of $50bn - money that is meant to relieve poverty in developing countries.
