WASHINGTON - Three more prisoners from the U.S. base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have been released to their home countries, the Pentagon announced yesterday.

A military tribunal found that two of them should no longer be considered enemy combatants, the Pentagon said. One was released to Yemen, the other to Tajikistan. A separate military panel, which looks at the value of continuing to hold the prisoner, recommended the third for release to Iran.

The Pentagon did not identify the three further, citing security considerations.

The releases increase the number of detainees who have left Guantanamo to 245. The Pentagon said about 505 remain at the prison for terrorist suspects.
